Izabella Klein was called Bella by her family and friends. She was born in 1907 and lived in Bilky, Ukraine. Bella was only eleven-years-old when her father died in 1918. As Bella grew older, she chose to remain with her widowed mother to provide much needed help. In 1944, Bella was thirty-six-years -old. She was sent to Auschwitz with her mother, a sister, a brother, nephews, and nieces. When they arrived at the murder camp, the Nazis first separated Bella from her mother. Bella pleaded to remain with her mother. The Nazis granted her wish and led them together to the gas chambers. The Nazis and their collaborators murdered them both.
